Ottawa Asbestos Pros is an independent asbestos testing and survey service for Ottawa and the surrounding area. We identify what is there, document it to a standard that holds up, and hand you a report. We do not perform abatement, and that is the entire point.
Why testing only
The abatement-adjacent trade has a conflict built into it: the company that tests for free is often the company that gets paid to remove. That puts the diagnosis and the sales quote in the same hands. In a compliance town like Ottawa, where a report has to satisfy a Ministry of Labour inspector, a public tender, or an insurer, that conflict is not academic.
We sell testing and surveys only. We have no abatement crew and no removal quote waiting at the end of a visit. If a material comes back negative, we tell you it is negative, and you have avoided a removal you did not need. If it is positive, we say so plainly and you take the report to any licensed abatement contractor you choose. Independence is not a slogan here; it is what makes our report the credible one.
What we do, plainly
We sample suspect materials following Ontario O. Reg. 278/05, sealed and logged with chain of custody, and send them to an accredited laboratory for polarized-light-microscopy analysis (or PCM/TEM for air). You get a plain-language report: what is positive, what is negative, the type and percentage where positive, the regulatory implications for your project, and the lab certificates. For construction, renovation, and demolition projects, we produce Designated Substances Surveys structured to go straight into a tender package.
What we are not
- We are not an abatement company. We never remove asbestos, so we never have a reason to find more of it than is there.
- We do not do scare tactics. Asbestos is managed calmly and by the regulation, not by alarm. Intact, undisturbed materials are often left safely in place, and we will tell you when that is the right call.
- We do not offer visual "assessments" in place of lab work. Asbestos cannot be identified by eye. The value is the accredited-lab result.
Where we work
Ottawa and the surrounding area: Centretown, the Glebe, Sandy Hill, Old Ottawa South, Westboro, Alta Vista, Kanata, Orleans, Nepean, and the towns around the capital. Ottawa's older housing stock and its deep inventory of government, institutional, and commercial buildings make asbestos a routine, regulated part of construction here, and our reports are written to that standard.
How to use this site
Start with what it costs if you are budgeting, the Designated Substances Survey page if you are a contractor or property manager, or which test do I need if you are not sure. If you already know what needs sampling, call and we will quote a firm price.
